Nigeria is setting a global precedent with the establishment of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Trust. This first-of-its-kind body will consist of 10 AI experts, the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, and the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology. The Trust's mandate includes mobilizing resources, providing oversight, and guiding AI development in Nigeria. It will ensure strategic investment in AI across key economic sectors.

National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (NAIS)

Nigeria's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (NAIS), published in September 2025, is led by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), with NITDA as a key implementing body. It sets a five-year vision (2025–2029) to make Nigeria a global leader in ethical and inclusive AI innovation. The strategy pursues three broad goals: economic growth and competitiveness, social development and inclusion, and technological advancement and leadership.
