Administratively the research ethics committtees were part of the Research Council of Norway until 2013, when the Norwegian National Research Ethics Committees was established as a public body. The committees are regulated by the Research Ethics Act.The initiative has the following objectives:Support researchers and research institutions in promoting ethical and responsible research.Ensure that actors respect research ethics in their work.Ensure public trust in research.
