The Office for IT and eGovernment has established a State Data Center which is, in terms of technical and security standards, one of the most modern in the region and stores the key information and communication infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia. The Center meets the Tier 3+ standard, and the Center's services are provided in accordance with the ISO 27001 security standard, ISO 9001 quality standards, as well as with the quality of service provision, ISO 20000.

Rapid development and testing of AI-based solutions required the provision of an appropriate infrastructure of high-performance computers and the need for a platform via which high-performance computer resources would be available for research organisations, faculties, but also small and medium enterprises and start-ups that were not able to provide the required resources themselves. In 2019, Serbia documented an annual growth of ICT services export of over 20% for the fifth consecutive year. Economic growth, digitalization and education were key priorities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and AI was one of the areas with the greatest potential to contribute to these priorities. By adopting the Strategy for development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020-2025, and in accordance with its goals and measures, Secondary State Data Center in Kragujevac was imposed as an ideal facility for National AI Platform envisaged by the Strategy. Objectives:Primary Government DC: Smooth and reliable operation of eGovernment services, safe storage of data registries and the development of future services. Enhanced work of the public administration, acceleration and simplification of procedures, improved daily life of citizens and business operations for the economy.Secondary Government Data Centre: improving eBusiness systems, using state-of-the-art ICT capacities in providing services to users, reducing the risk of loss of data that is of great importance to the Republic of Serbia, and the support for the development of digital transformation in Serbia.
