Sweden’s AI strategy is a comprehensive national framework to make the country a global top-10 AI leader. It promotes responsible, secure, and trustworthy AI while strengthening innovation, research, and competitiveness. The strategy focuses on increased adoption across society, improved public services, and international cooperation, supported by an action plan and annual follow-up.

The Government has decided to assign 25 national authorities to report on their use of AI. The assignment includes reporting on what collaborations exist with other authorities and what training or other competence-enhancing initiatives have been offered to the staff. The authorities must also report on the challenges linked to ethics, regulation and security.

Konsekvenshjälpen is an AI assistant developed to help public officials produce higher-quality regulatory impact assessments. It provides step-by-step guidance based on Sweden’s Impact Assessment Ordinance and the Agency’s official guidance, helping users explore alternatives, identify affected stakeholders, and improve drafts among other tasks.

The "AI-verkstaden" is a national initiative that provides public sector organisations with shared, secure environments and ready‑to‑use AI services to help them develop, test, and use AI solutions. It is designed to support government agencies, regions, and municipalities by offering technical tools, guidance, and trustworthy AI services. The initiative was developed to address common challenges such as limited AI competence and legal uncertainty.
