AI verkstaden - AI node for public administration
The "AI-verkstaden" is a national initiative that provides public sector organisations with shared, secure environments and ready‑to‑use AI services to help them develop, test, and use AI solutions. It is designed to support government agencies, regions, and municipalities by offering technical tools, guidance, and trustworthy AI services. The initiative was developed to address common challenges such as limited AI competence and legal uncertainty.
Sweden’s AI Strategy
Sweden’s AI strategy is a comprehensive national framework to make the country a global top-10 AI leader. It promotes responsible, secure, and trustworthy AI while strengthening innovation, research, and competitiveness. The strategy focuses on increased adoption across society, improved public services, and international cooperation, supported by an action plan and annual follow-up.

National Academic Infrastructure for Supercomputing Sweden (NAISS)
NAISS, the National Academic Infrastructure for Supercomputing in Sweden, is providing researchers with high-performance computing (HPC) resources, storage capacity, and data services. Through a new supercomputer projected to be operational in 2025, NAISS will be a full member of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
Swestore
Swestore is a Research Data Storage infrastructure intended for active research data, operated by the National Academic Infra-structure for Supercomputing Sweden (NAISS).
Roadmap for a national digital infrastructure for healthcare
Through common standards and specifications, a national infrastructure is made possible. The purpose of the infrastructure is to create better conditions for residents to gain access to and have control over their own health data. The infrastructure will also make healthcare work more efficient; conditions are created for using data to develop healthcare, conduct research and create better opportunities for decision-making.
NeIC Heilsa
Eilsa Tryggvedottir is the name of the Nordic collaboration on sensitive data funded by NeIC and partner nodes. Access to sensitive data, such as genomics and phenomics data, is critical for driving ground-breaking discoveries and advance human health. The project aims to build on the technology developed in the previous NeIC Tryggve projects to increase interoperability and strengthen Nordic cross-border e-infrastructure.
Sunet Data Center DC Orion in Kalix + EOSC data storage
This project aims to establish a redundant data centre in Northern Sweden for Sunet's services.
Data – an underutilized resource for Sweden
This strategy, created as part of the governments innovation program in collaboration with industry, aimed at increased access to data for e.g. artificial intelligence and digital innovation. There were seven directly related government commissions to a number of government agencies, financed by the National Innovation Council. All commissions/tasks are completed as of 2024, and the Agency for Digital government has a long-term task to coordinate data-driven innovation.
Transitional study support
To facilitate the re-skilling of professionals (not only on AI), in 2022, the government introduced the study support, which gives adults aged between 27 and 62 the opportunity to study and broaden their skills. For one year, professionals can receive a study grant equivalent to 80% of their pre-study salary, and for a further year, they can apply for a student loan.

Analysing the impact of AI on educational programmes
The government assigned the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education (MYH) with analysing the potential of impact artificial intelligence on the university's or polytechnic's education offerings in relation to the labor market's future skills needs.
