Initiative overview

In light of the accelerating use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in media, alongside growing challenges related to misleading, false, and fraudulent content, deepfakes, public opinion manipulation, algorithmic influence, and the difficulty of regulating content across cross-border digital platforms.
This initiative establishes guiding principles for the use of AI across the media content lifecycle, including production, editing, publication, and redistribution on media and digital platforms, to ensure responsible and safe use, mitigate associated risks, preserve media integrity, and protect societal values and individual rights.
The objectives of this initiative are:
• Guide the use of AI technologies in the media sector based on responsible practices and risk management.
• Enhance the reliability of media content and protect public trust.
• Contribute to reducing the risks of misinformation, deepfakes, privacy violations, and infringements of intellectual property rights.
• Clarify the responsibilities of media entities, platforms, and content creators.

Additionally, this initiative is expected to be a reference guide that adopts the approach of balancing and enabling media innovation with the protection of society, grounded in transparency, responsibility, and proportionality to the level of impact. It ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and controls and the regulatory requirements issued by SDAIA in the fields of data and AI.

Results, outcomes and impacts:
The planned initiative to develop AI principles in the media sector is expected to strengthen responsible AI use, enhance content integrity, and build trust in digital media. It will support alignment across media stakeholders by promoting transparency, accountability, and safeguards against misuse such as misinformation and manipulation.
Impact will be measured through adoption of principles, integration into editorial and production processes, and improvements in compliance and risk management practices.
In the future, the initiative is expected to enable more resilient media ecosystems, reduce harmful content risks, and support sustainable innovation in AI-driven media applications.
