Initiative overview

Bulgaria hosts a network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) under the Digital Europe Programme, designed to support the adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced digital technologies. These hubs address a key challenge for Bulgarian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public organisations: accessing the expertise, infrastructure, and technical guidance required to deploy AI effectively and responsibly.

The current network comprises four operational hubs: InnovationAmp, the European Digital Innovation Hub in the Construction Sector (EDIHCS), EDIH Thrace, and AgroHub.BG. Each hub offers specialised services tailored to its sector or region, including support for AI integration, digital transformation strategies, and access to testing and experimentation environments. By providing hands-on guidance and resources, the hubs enable organisations to explore innovative solutions, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate the development of AI-driven products and services.

The initiative is expanding with eight additional hubs, aiming to broaden regional coverage and increase the accessibility of AI and digital innovation services throughout Bulgaria. This expansion will further strengthen the country’s innovation ecosystem, promote cross-sector collaboration, and enhance the competitiveness of Bulgarian enterprises in European and global markets.
