Initiative overview
The German Federal Government adopted the High-Tech Agenda Germany in July 2025. The agenda serves as a guideline for technological and economic objectives. It reflects the common understanding of the measures required to consolidate Germany's position as a nation of technological innovation, ensure technological sovereignty and maintain economic strength. The focus of the agenda is on the further development of six priority key enabling technologies, one of them artificial intelligence, and the strengthening of five research fields. In addition, nine levers are used to increase the innovation potential in key enabling technologies and research fields.
With a concrete roadmap for artificial intelligence and defined milestones published in May 2026, research and application-oriented development are being driven forward in a targeted and transparent manner. Its four key objectives „increasing value creation through AI, improving AI capabilities, becoming a key player in AI innovation and expanding the use of AI in healthcare“ aim to strengthen innovative power, maintain competitiveness and secure prosperity while addressing key challenges facing society and promoting technological potential.
