The Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT), established in 2010 by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), is a leading centre for research and innovation in information and communication technologies. The institute addresses the growing need for advanced computing infrastructure, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence (AI) research in Bulgaria and the broader region.
IICT-BAS maintains state-of-the-art computing facilities and high-performance computing resources that enable researchers to develop and test AI models, process large datasets, and explore complex computational problems. The institute plays a central role in advancing AI applications in areas such as scientific computing, data analytics, and digital services.
In addition to research, IICT-BAS provides specialised AI training and support for doctoral programmes, fostering the development of highly skilled professionals in the field.
