Initiative overview
Launched in 2022, the New Energy (Nowa Energia) programme is a national initiative to drive innovation and sustainability in Poland’s energy sector. It provides financial and strategic support to both entrepreneurs and local government bodies, helping them test and implement modern energy solutions.
The programme has two main thematic areas:
- Smart Cities for Growth – developing technologies that enhance urban sustainability and efficiency through smart energy systems.
- Self-Sufficient Energy Clusters – supporting local communities and municipalities in building decentralised, renewable-based energy systems to increase resilience and reduce reliance on external supply.
Key objectives include:
- Encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation in the energy sector
- Supporting local governments and public service providers in sustainable transformation
- Strengthening energy self-sufficiency and resilience across regions
- Promoting the development of green technologies aligned with EU sustainability goals
