SOFIA (Automated Information Guidance and Facilitation Service) is a virtual assistant developed by Peru's tax and customs authority, SUNAT. It provides guidance on tax and customs matters through graphic content, direct links, personalised consultations, and video tutorials. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week via the SUNAT portal, SOFIA supports taxpayers, both individuals and legal persons, with topics including tax obligation compliance, electronic audits, customs import procedures.

Peru's Adetop algorithm is an AI-powered tool developed for forest supervision, used by Osinfor (the Peruvian forest oversight body) to detect illegal logging across Peruvian territory. Using multispectral satellite imagery from the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 and NASA's Landsat constellation, the algorithm identifies concentrated tree extraction. Between 2024 and June 2025, the system detected 42 cases of illegal logging, totalling 23,351 cubic metres of unauthorised timber extraction.

Continuous service enabled for public institutions that, through the use of algorithms based on AI, seeks to expedite the national and international comparative analysis of regulation in digital technologies and the development of regulatory projects.

The project covers: improving the integration between the different modes of transport (administrative, regulatory, or value-added), providing a benefit to citizens who use these services (quality, availability, cost reduction, or safety), increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of operators, or advance in aspects linked to sustainability, social inclusion or emissions reduction.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers, through the Secretariat of Government and Digital Transformation, was assigned as the national technical-regulatory authority responsible for directing, evaluating and supervising the use and promotion of the development of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies at national level.

Use of technologies that allow massive processing of all available contracting information, to automate and forecast, identify patterns, and detect anomalies that help identify possible irregular practices through innovative algorithms based on Big Data and AI.

It is a law to promote the safe, transparent, responsible, and respectful use of human rights of artificial intelligence, which establishes the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, through the Secretariat of Government and Digital Transformation (PCM-SGTD) as the technical-regulatory authority at the national level in charge of directing, evaluating and supervising the use and promotion of the development of AI.

Establishment of a Working Group with a view to the constitution of a Council intergovernmental Artificial Intelligence for Latin America and the Caribbean, within the framework of the UNESCO Recommendation on AI Ethics, aiming to strengthen regional capacities in the matter.
