Initiative overview

The Flanders AI European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) is designed to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region. The initiative addresses the challenge that many SMEs face in integrating AI into their operations due to limited expertise, infrastructure, and access to practical support.

The primary objective of the hub is to provide a neutral, integrated, and accessible service ecosystem where SMEs can explore, experiment with, and implement AI solutions. By offering technical guidance, training, access to AI tools, and collaborative support, the hub helps companies understand how AI can improve efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness across sectors.

Backed by a consortium of 13 partners, the hub provides targeted support across four key areas:
i) test before invest,
ii) skills and training,
iii) access to funding, and
iv) innovation ecosystem and networking. By leveraging existing initiatives such as the Flemish Industry Partnership (Industriepartnerschap), the Flanders AI Academy (VAIA), and the Knowledge Centre Data & Society (Kenniscentrum Data & Maatschappij), the hub strengthens AI expertise, fosters collaboration, and enhances digital transformation across Flemish industries
