Initiative overview
InnovAIte Slovakia is a collaborative initiative designed to strengthen Slovakia’s artificial intelligence ecosystem by linking academic research with industry needs. Several regional universities have created dedicated AI research departments and hubs, many of which work closely with local businesses and industrial partners. These hubs focus on advancing both applied and fundamental AI research, while also ensuring that innovations are directly relevant to the country’s economic development.
The main objectives of InnovAIte Slovakia are to:
- Promote AI research capacity within Slovak universities.
- Encourage university–industry collaboration for the development of applied AI solutions.
- Support regional innovation ecosystems by tailoring AI applications to local needs.
- Train and upskill researchers and students in high-demand AI fields.
Through these hubs, universities are exploring AI applications across multiple areas, such as:
- Intelligent manufacturing and industrial automation.
- Smart cities and mobility.
- Healthcare and biomedical technologies.
- Data-driven solutions for public administration and services.
By strengthening collaboration between academia and industry, InnovAIte Slovakia helps ensure that research is effectively transferred into practice. This increases the competitiveness of Slovak companies while also contributing to the country’s digital transformation.
