Initiative overview

Malta’s TAKEOFF Seed Fund Awards (TOSFA)—a joint scheme of the University of Malta and the Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects (MEEP)—seeks to support early-stage tech and start-up development with small grants that help teams validate ideas and build first prototypes.

Since 2014, the programme has offered awards of €2,500–€25,000 per project (total pot €150,000 in 2023), aiming to bridge the gap between research and market by funding proof-of-concept, customer discovery, and initial go-to-market work.
