The OECD.AI Policy Navigator

Established in 2020 under the Ministry for Culture and Innovation, this laboratory serves as a central hub for AI research and development. It unites numerous research centers and receives government funding, positioning itself as a foundational pillar in advancing the country's AI capabilities.

Objectives:To draw clear guidelines for the AI development and applications in Hungary.

To raise awareness of the economic value of commercially viable data, and to encourage their secondary use.

To raise awareness of AI applicability in business.

A consortium of ground researchers focusing on the basic questions of AI.

The programme supports the solution of major and complex tasks and the achievement of R&D and innovation results in several areas of expertise in the cooperation of the most outstanding actors in the field.

To create and co-ordinate an extensive pool of experts to help resolve legal issues and matters of ethics relating to the regulation of artificial intelligence and the implementation of the strategy.

The aim of the public data portal is to establish a complete and responsible national data management scheme, which includes sharing non-personal data assets created in the public sector and having a significant multiplier effect in order to exploit the potential economic stimulation effect associated with their wide availability.

Objectives:- To support the automation of administrative procedures using AI-based services based on a language processing technology for the Hungarian language.- To collect both oral and written training data sets to train the language processing technology tool.- To develop a telephone-based customer service for the public administration using AI solutions.

The Laboratory aims to provide efficient and innovative autonomous solutions for road vehicles, aircraft and mobile robots by relying on a wide group of Hungarian experts. Activities focus on research, development, and demonstration of the components and functional design of experimental vehicles, cyber-physical manufacturing and logistics systems. The Laboratory collaborates with the ZalaZone autonomous vehicle test track.

To co-ordinate and stimulate the strategic management of the data assets. It does not perform independent data processing but aims to encourage and support data utilisation.

In 2018, the government and a number of academic institutions and companies joined forces to create the AI Coalition. The Coalition is working on developing a national strategy and positioning Hungary as a leader in AI in chosen field. The AI Strategy is going to be released early 2020. Key agenda points planned to create the 2019-2020 AI Map of Hungary that should result in an ai-hungary.com website giving an overview for both internal and external parties on the AI competencies of the country.

Hungary announced an AI Action Plan, which analysts are calling the first pillar of a national AI strategy to define and form the institutional framework of the Hungarian data market and the AI ecosystem. The AI strategy itself should be completed by the start of 2020.

The Hungarian AI Coalition was established in October 2018 to offer a community and forum for all stakeholders in the Hungarian AI ecosystem who wish to make an active contribution to the development of the Hungarian AI environment and skills. The National AI strategy is the joint, action-oriented product of the Coalitions professional community, consisting of over 240 organisations and over 1000 delegated experts.
