Head of OECD.AI Policy Observatory - OECD

Karine Perset heads the AI Unit of the OECD Division for Digital Economy Policy. She is in charge of the OECD.AI Policy Observatory and the OECD.AI Network of Experts (ONE AI). She focuses on opportunities and challenges that AI raises for public policy, on policies to help implement the OECD AI Principles and on trends in AI development. She was previously Advisor to ICANN’s Governmental Advisory Committee and yet before the Counsellor of the OECD’s STI Directors. Karine is Franco-American.

Karine Perset dirige l’Unité IA de la Division des politiques de l’économie numérique de l’OCDE. Elle est responsable de l’Observatoire des politiques d’IA de l’OCDE et de son réseau d’experts. Elle se penche sur la mise en œuvre des principes IA de l’OCDE dans les politiques publiques et sur les orientations du développement de l’IA. Elle était auparavant conseillère auprès du Comité consultatif gouvernemental de l’ICANN et conseillère des directeurs STI de l’OCDE. Karine est franco-américaine.

The OECD’s Network of Experts on AI developed a user-friendly framework to classify AI systems. It provides a structure for assessing and classifying AI systems according to their impact on public policy following the OECD AI Principles. This session discusses the four dimensions of the draft OECD AI Systems Classification Framework, illustrates the usefulness of the framework using concrete AI systems as examples, and seeks feedback and comments to support finalisation of the framework. Aclassification framework to understand the labour market impact will also be introduced.

Different types of AI systems raise very different policy opportunities and challenges. As part of the AI-WIPS project, the OECD has developed a user-friendly framework to classify AI systems. The framework provides a structure for assessing and classifying AI systems according to their impact on public policy in areas covered by the OECD AI Principles.
