The Artificial Intelligence Expert Mission consists of a group of experts who will meet periodically to evaluate the different dimensions of AI and produce concrete recommendations in the short, medium and long term. The Mission is necessary as a mechanism to establish a prospective roadmap to achieve the implementation of an AI Policy based on the technical and integral vision of the experts to complement and guide the path that Colombia is advancing in this regard.

Colombia's AI Expert Mission is one of the first of its kind in the region, and one of the first to focus on developing measures for the development of citizen empowerment and future of work policies for the fourth industrial revolution.Colombia recognizes the international leadership of certain countries and institutions in the development of AI. Therefore, it is necessary to exchange knowledge with leading international entities and generate strategies to build relationships with other organizations on AI-related topics, mitigating information asymmetries through continual interaction with the international community, especially in the LAC region.Colombia held a public consultation on the proposal for the creation of this council, with comments due on March 30th 2021.https://dapre.presidencia.gov.co/AtencionCiudadana/convocatorias-consultas/consejo-internacional-de-inteligencia-artificial-para-colombiaThe initiative has the following objectives:Generate recommendations in the areas of future of work, gender and citizen empowerment that respond to the challenges originated by artificial intelligence, among which the knowledge and gender gaps stand out.Promote the development of technological tools to mitigate the effects of climate change, environmental protection and promote the sustainable development of the country. Recommendations are expected on the implementation of AI solutions oriented to this purpose, as well as the generation of the necessary talent and skills to achieve it.
