Initiative overview

The ProKI-Netz (Demonstrations- und Transfernetzwerk KI in der Produktion, or AI in Manufacturing Demonstration and Transfer Network) was established by the BMFTR as part of Germany's AI Action Plan to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and SME adoption in manufacturing. The network consists of multiple regional demonstration and competence centres (Demonstrationszentren) co-located at universities with focus on production technologies across Germany, each demonstrating AI applications in specific production domains (e.g. quality control, predictive maintenance, process optimisation, robotics, digital twin). SMEs can visit demonstration centres, obtain technology consulting, access hands-on pilot projects, and receive support for implementing AI solutions in their own production environments. The network also provides training events, qualification programmes, and matchmaking between AI solution providers and manufacturers. Target audience: German SME manufacturers, particularly those in traditional industrial sectors beginning their AI adoption journey.
