The Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, with the support of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), is working towards the design and implementation of a task force for AI in Colombia. This Task Force will be in charge of fostering the implementation of AI Policy. It will also promote and facilitate the use of AI in the public sector. The Presidency of the Republic is launching a website presenting the AI Project and its work.

Initiative overview
The Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic (DAPRE), in response to the technical assistance provided by the Multilateral Bank, has decided to work towards a greater dynamization of AI governance in the country. The Government of Colombia has positioned itself as a regional and global leader in the construction of a public policy on Artificial Intelligence. Thus, the need has arisen to achieve an adequate implementation of the initiatives that have been developed and that meet these expectations. To this end, and with the objective of reinforcing the commitment assumed in the framework of the technical assistance provided on the subject, the technical design of a Project exclusively dedicated to this purpose has been proposed. This is part of an effort to institutionalize the artificial intelligence policy and give it a long-term scope, within the framework of the functions of the Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic, aimed at providing guidelines for the evaluation, formulation and implementation of public policies, AI being one of the strategic sectors to be promoted by the government.The initiative has the following objectives:To define mechanisms and tools to accelerate the implementation of Colombia's AI strategy or policy and ethical framework.To monitor projects in public entities that are using AI systems to provide a more efficient and effective service to the public.To increase international cooperation and coordination with governments and international entities on AI-related topics to achieve the goals of Colombias AI strategy.To develop mechanisms to foster the access and use of data for the design and development of AI systems.To increase collaboration with the private sector and the entrepreneurship ecosystem in AI-related topics.
