The Guideline offers a series of recommendations based on international standards and best practices in information security that may be applicable depending on the nature of the data, the purposes of processing, and the technical and economic capabilities of the data processors.

Initiative overview

Privacy impact assessments constitute tools that allow for the implementation of a privacy by design approach in accordance with international best practices. However, in order to have an appropriate legislative and regulatory framework for the protection of personal data in the possession of individuals, taking into account the various judicial and jurisprudential criteria that have emerged as a result of their application, the reform of the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP) in Mexico and its Regulations would be desirable to ensure full compliance with the Mexican legal regime on the protection of personal data.The initiative has the following objectives:This Guideline, is not mandatory but rather provide guidance in order to provide technical support to data controllers, disseminate knowledge of the right to the protection of personal data in Mexican society, and promote its exercise.
