—Law No. 5321/2026 establishes the national framework for the implementation of the EU ΑΙ Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) in Greece. It designates competent authorities, provides for market surveillance and enforcement, establishes an AI regulatory sandbox, a AI Systems Registry for the public sector and an AI Observatory, and promotes the trustworthy and innovative use of AI. The law further replaces the AI governance provisions previously contained in Law 4961/2022.
The National Supercomputer "DAEDALUS" is a Greek government initiative to build one of Europe's most powerful computing systems, with a total budget of €58.9 million. Implemented by GRNET SA under the Ministry of Digital Governance and co-funded by EuroHPC JU, it is expected to be operational in early 2026. With a power of 89 PetaFlops, DAEDALUS will serve as the computing core of the Greek AI Factory "Pharos".
The project “Students of Natural Sciences: Pioneers in Artificial Intelligence” offers an online AI course designed for science students. Developed under the “Science For You – SciFy” initiative with support from the Education Office of NCSR “Demokritos”, it includes videos, exercises, and other interactive materials to make AI learning accessible.
In Greece, every draft law is published by the relevant Ministry on opengov.gr, typically for a two-week period, during which citizens can express their opinions – within the AI4Deliberation project, several AI features will be tested during specific deliberations hosted on open-gov.gr. For instance, the project will explore the AI Summarisation functionality for processing deliberation comments.
The Hellenic Cadastre developed a system to automate the reading and categorisation of property contracts, apply the relevant legal rules, and then generate assessments for approval using AI. It provides services such as training, testing technologies before investment, and building innovation networks. The initiative focuses on promoting sustainable and green technologies in Greece.
This programme aims to boost entrepreneurship and innovation in Greece by providing financing to start-ups. Specific funds under the EquiFund umbrella, such as the Innovation Window and the Early-Stage Window, are designed to support tech start-ups, including those working with AI. These funds provide equity financing to help businesses grow from the seed stage to scaling up. EquiFund II focuses on start-ups in the areas of Life sciences & Healthcare and Sustainability & Social impact.
The Association of Artificial Intelligence – AiCatalyst is private network of industry and academic experts aiming to utilise and democratise AI solutions within an ethical, transparent, and explainable framework while, establishing a network between the academic research and innovative entrepreneurship. It is partnered with the European Institute of Technology’s AI Community and the European Digital Innovation Hub ‘Smart Attica'.
The Smart Agro Hub is the competence centre of the Agricultural University with the partnership of 12 other companies, forming an ecosystem of research, practical knowledge and entrepreneurship, contributing to the creation of a more environmentally friendly agricultural production system based on digital technologies.
