Initiative overview
The National Artificial Intelligence Competition (NAIC) is a national initiative in Greece aimed at familiarising middle and high school students with artificial intelligence and developing practical skills in emerging technologies. Organised by the ARCHIMEDES Unit of the Athena Research Center, the competition is held in collaboration with:
- Hellenic Society of Computer Scientists and Professionals in Communications (GCP)
- Hellenic Society for Artificial Intelligence (EETN)
- Institute of Educational Policy (IEP)
The competition introduces participants to modern AI techniques and applications, including:
- Machine learning
- Computer vision
- Natural language processing
Students work on real-world challenges based on these technologies, gain experience collaborating with industry experts, and build teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Top-performing students have the opportunity to represent Greece at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence, raising the country’s profile in global AI education and innovation.
