Initiative overview
The National Data Strategy is a key component of Portugal’s digital transformation agenda. It envisions a governance model designed to foster a collaborative and dynamic ecosystem that promotes data altruism and creates synergies among stakeholders. The strategy focuses on three main pillars:
- Ethical and efficient data management: Establishing robust guidelines for the ethical and efficient management of data, ensuring reliability and security throughout its lifecycle.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Fostering effective collaboration between stakeholders to facilitate data and resource sharing in ways that drive innovation and value creation.
- Continuous monitoring and impact assessment: Implementing continuous monitoring of data initiatives, using models to assess the impact of these actions on society and the economy.
The strategy aims to create a data-driven economy, enhancing public sector efficiency, fostering innovation, and improving citizens' quality of life. By promoting data altruism, it encourages the sharing of data for public good, ensuring that data is used responsibly and ethically.
