The initiative comprises three key components: an artificial intelligence observatory, governance and social engagement, and capacity building.

Initiative overview

Given the exponential growth in the integration of artificial intelligence solutions in different sectors, the Agency of Access to Public Information (AAIP) has developed a programme to focus on the potential social, economic, cultural and environmental risks that need to be studied and addressed to avoid bias and discrimination.This programme promotes analysis processes, regulation and capacity building to accompany the development and use of AI. It is aimed at public and private entities that use automated decision making systems with AI applications.It has the following lines of action: Observatory on AI, to monitor regional and global progress in the regulation of technological developments based on AI and promote algorithmic. transparency; Governance and social participation, to promote joint work with government bodies of technological and legal governance ; and capacity building, to provide training and technical assistance on transparency and protection of personal data in the use of the AI and awareness campaigns, media and information literacy.The expected evolution of the programme is to be integrated into a broader national AI strategy, in order to ensure synergy with other initiatives of the national public administration.
