Established under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, with the partnership of IT Valley and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye Turkish Management Sciences Institute, the "Turkiye Open Source Platform" continues its activities to develop the open-source ecosystem with its stakeholders consisting of public and private sector companies, NGOs, universities, educational institutions, and communities.

Initiative overview

The platform was established in line with the goal of raising 500 thousand software developers, which is also included in the 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy, to maximize the success of this human resource and to produce software-based products from Turkiye with international claims. The platform carries out its work with two qualified software developer schools (42 Istanbul and 42 Kocaeli), where the learning model from each other is adopted, and open-source software projects, especially natural language processing.The initiative has the following objectives:- To develop exportable open-source software products in Turkiye.- To reduce public and private sector software costs from licensing.- To increase the number of qualified software developers.- To increase the number of companies and entrepreneurs offering open-source software support services.
