In May 2018, the Ministers responsible for digital development from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, and the …land Islands released a Declaration on AI in the Nordic-Baltic Region. The countries agreed to collaborate in order to develop and promote the use of artificial intelligence to serve humans.

AI Support Portfolio includes support services (e.g. data sandbox, AI seminars and workshops, consulting services, deep dives) provided to public sector institutions to facilitate the uptake of trustworthy and human-centric AI in the public sector.

The AI Task Force was initially formed as a collaboration initiative between the Estonian Government's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and Government Office, but has included over time participants from the private and public sectors, as well as academics.
