Initiative overview

AI Hub Tampere is a research centre hosted by Tampere University and supported by public funding. Its mission is to advance the use of applied artificial intelligence by connecting academic expertise with the needs of industry and society. The hub was created to help organisations better understand how AI can be used in real-world contexts. The initiative brings together a coalition of around 25 professors from different disciplines, reflecting the diverse ways AI affects technology, business, and society. This interdisciplinary base allows the hub to study the technical aspects of AI, like machine learning methods and data analytics, as well as the wider socio-technical impacts of digital transformation, including ethics, regulation, and human interaction with intelligent systems. AI Hub Tampere offers workshops, demonstrations, and collaboration projects that help companies and public organisations explore AI opportunities.
