European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) in Slovakia play a crucial role in supporting the uptake of AI and other innovative technologies in public sector organisations. These hubs provide resources, expertise, and support for implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance public service delivery.

Initiative overview

Slovakia’s European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) help public bodies and businesses adopt AI and other digital tools. Many administrations lack expertise and struggle to test solutions before use; the hubs act as one-stop shops, offering guidance, pilot projects, and training.

Their main objectives are to provide “test-before-invest” services, build staff skills, and connect public organisations with researchers and technology providers. This supports more efficient service delivery - for example through AI-based document handling, data analysis, or cybersecurity tools - while reducing risks and costs.

The Slovak network includes the SKAI-eDIH led by the Kempelen Institute of Intelligent Technologies, as well as hubs like the Center for Innovative Healthcare (CIH) and Cassovium in Eastern Slovakia.
