Initiative overview

Germany’s Digital Act expanded the Coordination Office for Interoperability into a Competence Centre intended to guide healthcare data integration. Supported by the Interop Council and expert working groups, the centre is tasked with developing approaches to technical, syntactic, and semantic interoperability in health IT.

The Health IT Interoperability Governance Ordinance (GIGV) provides the framework for this work and seeks to ensure that standards and guidelines are developed in a coordinated and binding manner, promoting consistency across the digital health system.
