Nationale Datenstrategie
Initiative overview
The National Data Strategy represents Germany’s overarching framework for building a data-driven economy and society. It aims to unlock the full potential of data in public administration, research, industry, and civil society while upholding the principles of transparency, privacy, and security.
The strategy is guided by three main objectives:
- Expand data availability by creating new datasets and improving access to government data.
- Enhance data quality through standardized descriptions, quality assurance mechanisms, and interoperability.
- Foster a data culture that encourages evidence-based policy, research, and business innovation.
Implementation is supported by several concrete measures:
- Development of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) to enable better data sharing across scientific disciplines.
- Establishment of interconnected data laboratories and appointment of Chief Data Officers and Open Data Coordinators within each Federal Ministry to promote innovation and coordination.
- A detailed implementation roadmap running through Q4 2024, ensuring alignment with EU legislation and federal data regulations.
