Media law is in the process of adopting special provisions to regulatealso use of AI in media, daling with miss- and diss- information, transparency, responsiblitiy and copyright.

Slovenia is planning to establish a national Competence Center for Artificial Intelligence, led by the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The center will advance AI research, innovation, and practical applications across industries and public services. It will also act as a one-stop-shop to help SMEs adopt AI solutions.

This project aims to create a hybrid cloud that will combine registers such as the AJPES register, the register of the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia and, for example, court registers, with the aim of simplifying procedures for businesses in relation to the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation has developed the pilot prototype “Semantični analizator” (Semantic Analyser), an open-source tool using AI techniques to process natural language. Building on these experiences, a single horizontal AI platform is planned for development to facilitate the processing of both public and non-public data. The platform will be modular, flexible, scalable, and upgradeable, ensuring adaptability to the diverse needs and requirements of individual authorities.

As part of the European Chips Joint Undertaking, Slovenia envisages the establishment of a consortium of public RTOs, which will manage the role of the Competence Centre for chips and semiconductors, to be located at the University of Maribor’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FERI UM).

The DARS AI Initiative introduces artificial intelligence to predict congestion and accidents on Slovenia’s motorways. The initiative uses machine learning models to improve traffic management and road safety. All AI projects are linked to the National Traffic Management Centre to support real-time decision-making.

The SRIP ACS+ Strategic Research Innovation Partnership in Slovenia supports innovation and R&D in the engineering and automotive sectors. It provides funding and collaboration opportunities for companies, research institutions, and service providers. The ACS+ AV Living Lab offers a real-world environment to test autonomous vehicles and smart mobility technologies.

The Ministry of Education has published this public call for proposals with regard to the use of generative artificial intelligence for and in education, including content development for primary and secondary school, in line with the with the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) within the development area of Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth.
