Initiative overview
TœBITAK ULAKBIM started the high-performance computing studies with the 128 PCs purchased in 2003 with the budget of the institution and then realized the TUGA (Turkish National Grid Infrastructure/TR-Grid) project with the demand from national researchers as well as the experiences and achievements achieved in international projects. The infrastructure was supported and expanded significantly between 2006 and 2008 within the scope of the TUGA project supported by TARAL with the approval of the TœBITAK Science Board. In 2009, the project TR-Grid Research e-Infrastructure Strengthening was presented by applying to the Research Infrastructure Project Call of DPT (State Planning Organization). Within the scope of this project, TRUBA, formerly called TR-Grid, was supported by DPT until the end of 2011. Within the scope of the Turkish National e-Science e-Infrastructure Strengthening project, which is a continuation of the previous project, the infrastructure is being expanded and updated with the current technologies with the support of the Ministry of Development. The initiative has the following objectives:- To provide high-performance computing, data-intensive computing, scientific data warehouses and cloud computing services.
