Initiative overview

France’s Digital Commons for Generative AI call addresses a key barrier to adoption: critical AI resources (data, models, tools, benchmarks) are scattered, proprietary, or hard to reuse. The aim is to build shared, open assets that lower costs and let innovators focus on real products and services. Its objectives are to create reusable “digital commons” across the whole gen-AI value chain, including curated datasets, foundation and domain models, evaluation suites, tooling, documentation, and governance. The call encourages collaboration between companies, research labs, and public actors to ensure quality, interoperability, and responsible use.

Projects funded under the call are expected to deliver accessible resources and demonstrators that others can adopt or build on.
