Initiative overview

The DIGITOP programme is designed to accelerate the digital transformation of manufacturing companies in Slovenia. Its main focus is the adoption of advanced technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), information and communication technologies (ICT), and Industry 4.0/5.0 practices to improve automation, efficiency, and production optimisation.

Key objectives include:

  • Introducing advanced digital technologies into manufacturing operations
  • Automating and optimising production processes using AI and robotics
  • Supporting strategic autonomy and technological independence in Slovenian industry

The programme consists of nine R&D projects at various stages of technological readiness. It is implemented through a public call for co-funding of longer-term, large-scale collaborative research and innovation programmes, targeting projects at Technical Readiness Levels 3–6.
