Slovenia has launched pilot projects to improve energy efficiency and increase the use of renewable energy in the economy. These projects use advanced digital technologies, including AI, to make business processes more sustainable. Key initiatives include a peer-to-peer renewables marketplace, emissions monitoring, and digital solutions for circular construction.

Pilotni projekti za izboljšanje energetske učinkovitosti in povečanje uporabe obnovljivih virov v gospodarstvu

Initiative overview

As part of its strategic plan for energy efficiency and renewable energy, Slovenia introduced three pilot projects in 2022 that integrate AI and advanced digital technologies to promote environmentally friendly and sustainable development. The initiatives are designed to test innovative approaches and demonstrate their potential for wider adoption.

Key measures include:

  • Peer-to-peer marketplace for renewables: enabling businesses and individuals to trade renewable energy efficiently
  • RMV (Recording, Measurement, and Verification of Emissions): improving the Emissions Trading System (ETS) through more accurate monitoring
  • Digital solution for BIM (Building Information Modelling) - circular construction: supporting sustainable construction practices and resource efficiency

A green corporate e-identity tool was also proposed as a web service on the Energy Agency’s website, allowing companies to track and showcase their sustainability efforts digitally.
