Initiative overview

France participates in the EU network of Testing & Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) to help companies trial AI in real-world settings and de-risk deployment. French actors are involved across all five TEFs and **coordinate two of them—PREVAIL and AI-MATTERS—**bringing national labs, firms, and public bodies together to run large-scale, sector-specific tests and share results.

In parallel, France leads the ALT-EDIC initiative, which integrates evaluation activities for advanced AI models, complementing TEF pilots with common methods, benchmarks, and governance so solutions proven in TEFs can be assessed consistently across the EU.
