Quantum Spain
Quantum Spain promotes and funds a competitive quantum computing infrastructure to strengthen Spain’s scientific and technological base in quantum computing and its AI applications. It supports the national ecosystem with essential tools and resources. In 2023, Spanish authorities announced that southern Europe’s first quantum computer would be installed in Barcelona.
Language Strategic Project for the Economic Recovery and Transformation
The plan supports AI learning in Spanish and co-official languages and goes beyond AI alone (Presidencia del Gobierno, 2023\[15]). It is partly implemented through the National Plan on Language Technologies, which includes initiatives to advance language technologies and AI in these languages. A key action is the creation of linguistic corpora composed of diverse texts such as novels, plays, film scripts, and press materials, helping train and improve AI language models.
AI Regulatory Sandbox
The AI Regulatory Sandbox, developed in collaboration with the European Commission, is a digital space that seeks to connect competent authorities with AI development companies to jointly define best practices when implementing future European AI regulation, and ensure its application. The AI Sandbox will be implemented by two focus groups and they will work on the publication of initial guidelines. The initiative will include a quality label.
University-Business Chairs on AI
Three ENIA chairs focus on AI and agriculture/rural development: University of Murcia, University of Cordoba, University of Oviedo. Two of the ENIA chairs focus on the intersection between AI and climate and the environment: Sustainability and Decarbonised society (Polytechnic University of Catalunya) and Green Algorithms (University of La Coruña).
National AI Strategy
The objective of this Strategy is to generate an environment of trust regarding the development of an inclusive and sustainable Artificial Intelligence (AI), placing citizens at its heart. The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, as stated by the Spanish prime minister S¡nchez, "seeks to place our country in the line of the leading countries in the research and use of a reliable Artificial Intelligence at the service of economic and social development, at the service of our development.
National Plan for Digital Skills
Through the initiatives proposed related with IA, the plan wills to promote new technical degrees and/or increase the number of places in existing university degrees and speed up procedures so that new university degrees can be launched more quickly, opening up the field of collaboration with other fields of knowledge, not to be restricted exclusively to instrumental training in technological skills.It is also necessary to promote the development of open training resources.
Strategy for Connected Industry 4.0
The Connected Industry 4.0 strategy is Spain's response to increasingly globalised, demanding and competitive markets. Altogether, eight core challenges and competitive requirements of Industry 4.0 are defined, where digital enablers play a vital role, e.g. optimisation of supply chains, flexibility and efficiency of production means, etc.

Co-Official Languages Corpus Development

Green Algorithms National Programme
