Initiative overview
DeiC was created to ensure that researchers and universities across Denmark have access to the digital tools they need for modern scientific work. Today’s research depends heavily on powerful computing, secure data storage, and fast networks. Without a coordinated effort, these resources could be unevenly distributed or too expensive for individual institutions. DeiC brings all Danish universities together to share and develop this national digital infrastructure.
The main goal of DeiC is to provide reliable access to computing power, data services, and high-speed connections for all researchers in Denmark. This supports tasks like running complex simulations, managing large datasets, and collaborating internationally. DeiC also sets standards and works with partners across Europe to keep Denmark’s research connected and competitive.
DeiC is a collaboration between Danish universities, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. It also connects with European initiatives like the European Open Science Cloud, ensuring Danish researchers benefit from international cooperation. Each university both contributes to and benefits from this shared infrastructure.
DeiC is expanding to support better data management and secure platforms, especially as research grows in areas like AI and climate science. The initiative plans to scale up services and deepen its role in European research networks to meet future digital needs.
