Initiative overview

Czechia hosts several European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) that help businesses and public institutions adopt advanced digital tools. Many organisations, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, face barriers such as high costs, limited expertise, and uncertainty about how technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) or high-performance computing (HPC) can be applied. The hubs address this by offering a safe space to test solutions, build skills, and access expert guidance before making large investments.

One example is EDIH CTU at the Czech Technical University in Prague, which supports AI and HPC applications. It provides consultations, training, and access to powerful computing resources so organisations can experiment with practical uses of AI. Another is the EDIH Testbed for Industry 4.0, which focuses on advanced manufacturing. Here, companies can trial robotics and automation technologies, working directly with researchers to solve production challenges and train staff in new methods.

Over time, Czech EDIHs are expected to deepen their links with the wider European network, giving local firms access to shared expertise across the EU. This scaling up will make it easier for Czech industry to adopt digital tools and remain competitive, resilient, and innovative.
