Initiative overview

In Czechia, the Testing and Experimentation Facility (TEF) for manufacturing brings together three universities to help modernize production through artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. Czech manufacturers, like many across Europe, face pressure to remain competitive while dealing with rising costs, supply chain disruptions, and the need for more sustainable processes. The TEF gives them access to advanced testing spaces where new technologies can be tried out in realistic industrial settings before being adopted on the factory floor.

The main goal is to strengthen the resilience and flexibility of Czech industry. By supporting AI-driven automation, the TEF helps production lines adjust quickly to market changes, reduce errors, and manage resources more efficiently. Local companies can present specific challenges to the facility and receive support from researchers and engineers in designing practical solutions. At the same time, the project provides training opportunities so that workers gain the skills needed to use these tools effectively.

As part of a wider European network, the Czech TEF will benefit from shared expertise and common standards developed across the EU.
