Initiative overview
In 2022, the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science published a research mapping focused on quantum science and technology. This study showed that Danish quantum research is considered world-class in several areas and enjoys strong international recognition. Quantum science holds great promise for advancing computing, communications, and other technologies, and Denmark’s strong position highlights its potential to contribute significantly to these fields.
The main goal of the mapping was to assess Denmark’s strengths and identify opportunities in quantum research. This helps guide national policies and funding decisions to support and grow the country’s expertise in this important area. By understanding where Denmark stands globally, the government can better target investments and collaborations.
Over the past ten years, Danish research institutions have increased their quantum activities significantly. New research groups have been formed, and several top international researchers have been recruited. Universities and research centers across Denmark have created a vibrant environment for quantum research, often collaborating internationally. The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science supports this work by monitoring progress and providing strategic backing.
