Finnish Centre for AI (FCAI)
FCAI is among the Research Council of Finland’s flagships. It hosts a community of AI experts in artificial intelligence in Finland, initiated by Aalto University, University of Helsinki, and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. FCAI hosts ELLIS Unit Helsinki, a node in the pan-European ELLIS network.FCAI is implemented through a large project portfolio. Research Council of Finland’s FCAI flagship funding is a small share of the total funding (about 3% in 2019–2020).
LUMI Supercomputer
Finland hosts the EuroHPC supercomputer LUMI, which is located in CSC’s data center in Kajaani. In March 2024, Finland made a funding commitment of up to EUR 250 million in the context of an upcoming call for new top-level EuroHPC supercomputers. As of mid-2021, LUMI (Large Unified Modern Infrastructure) will be a top-of-the-range pre-exascale supercomputer, capable of executing more than 375 petaflops or more than 375 million billion calculations per second.

AI Business Program
AI Business program was launched as part of AI Programme. In 2018, with public funding amounting to EUR 34 million and a total of 115 projects, the AI Business program, focusing on AI and the platform economy, was Business Finland's biggest programme. Leading the Way Into the Age of AI
In October 2017, Finland presented the first eight key actions for making Finland one of the leaders in the application of AI. This work was later supplemented with separate analyses and recommendations for measures on the future of work, ethics and security.
