France 2030: digital health acceleration strategy
The strategy aims to position France as a leader in digital health by fostering innovation and supporting the development of advanced e-health solutions, with a specific focus on integrating AI-based technologies, e.g. by funding medical imaging advancements, developing AI-based diagnostic and treatment tools, and ensuring secure and ethical use of health data.
Genomic Medicine Plan
The Plan aims to provide patients with timely access to the latest genomic innovations and integrate genomics into routine healthcare to improve diagnosis and treatment, reduce diagnostic errors, and personalise therapeutic strategies.
AI-related training for civil servants
The Public Digital Campus brings together and promotes the interministerial digital training offering. The goal is to equip public sector employees—both within and beyond the digital field—with transformative knowledge and skills that are essential for energising public action and delivering high-quality digital services.
AI demonstrators: DIAC and DIAT
France’s AI Demonstrators initiatives (DIAC and DIAT) support the development and testing of trusted and applied AI technologies. They fund projects that demonstrate AI in real-world settings across healthcare, mobility, industry, energy, and critical infrastructure. The programmes aim to strengthen the position of French AI companies and accelerate the adoption of AI in society and the economy.
AI Priority Research Program and Equipment (PEPR)
Within France’s 2030 strategy, this programme accelerates innovation in key fields, including AI in healthcare. By supporting foundational AI research, it drives advancements in medical imaging, predictive analytics, and therapeutic development. The programme also fosters digital health innovation through AI-powered personalised medicine and diagnostics, while encouraging collaboration between research institutions, healthcare providers, and industry.
OcéanIA Challenge
The OcéanIA Challenge develops AI and mathematical modeling tools to improve understanding of the ocean. It focuses on the ocean’s structure, dynamics, and role in regulating the biosphere. The initiative also supports efforts to combat climate change.
Inclusion of the climate or environmental dimensions of AI in education and training
In France, several initiatives integrate climate and environmental aspects of AI into education and training. These include university programmes, MOOCs, and educational content on sustainable digital technologies. The goal is to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of AI and ICT among students and professionals.
Support semiconductor ecosystem
As part of the national strategy on electronics, France supports initiatives aimed at developing advanced semiconductor technologies.
Research programme "Agroecology and ICT: data, agricultural equipment, and genetic resources in the service of the agroecological transition and adaptation to climate hazards"
The research projects selected and funded should implement multidisciplinary and systemic approaches based on the hybridisation of expertise from agronomy, ecology, genetics, physiology, ethology, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and social sciences (economics, sociology, management sciences, ergonomics). The funded infrastructures and equipment should be structured and provide data and methods for agroecological practices.
DeepGreen
In 2023, DeepGreen project partners launched the first open-source software platform for embedded AI: the Eclipse AIDGE platform.
Projects from the National Institute of Geographic and Forestry Information (IGN)
The French National Institute of Geographical and Forest Information (IGN) leads several AI-enhanced projects supporting land use, ecology, and agriculture. These include LiDAR HD (3D national mapping), OCS GE (land cover classification), CarHab (habitat modelling), AI4GEO (automated 2D/3D mapping from satellite data), CAP monitoring (with MASA/ASP), and BDForêt (forest reference mapping), advancing data-driven public policy and environmental management.
Acceleration strategy dedicated to the agritech industry
France's agritech acceleration strategy supports innovation in agriculture through AI-driven projects and targeted funding. Key initiatives include the development of smart farming solutions and data platforms. Notably, France has funded Agdatahub, a secure data intermediation platform designed to enhance data sharing across the agricultural and agri-food sectors.
Testing and experimentation facilities
France participates in the five Testing and experimentation facilities for AI. French players coordinate two of them (PREVAIL and AI MATTERS). France is also coordinating the ALT-EDIC initiative that integrates evaluation activities for advanced AI models.
Cloud research programme (PEPR)
Scientifically co-piloted by the CEA and Inria as part of the new “Digital, algorithms and software” programme. Its goal is to propose significant advances in the performance, security and frugality of cloud infrastructures and services while emphasising the transfer of innovative solutions from research to the industry.
Accelerating the use of generative AI in the economy
This call for proposals focuses on the downstream part of the generative AI value chain by encouraging the development of advanced integrated generative AI solutions with a short-term adoption horizon. It aims at bringing together developers and users of generative AI solutions and develop demonstrators for potentially replicable and economically viable solutions.
