On 26 May 2020, the Danish Parliament passed an amendment to the Danish Financial Statements Act, which means that large companies that have a policy for data ethics must supplement the managements report with an account of the companys policy for data ethics. The statement must contain information about the companys work with and policy on data ethics issues. If the company does not have a policy for data ethics, the managements report must include a statement explaining why they do not. The law enters into force on 1 January 2021, and a guide for businesses on how to include data ethics in their annual reports is in development. The initiative has the following objectives:To foster transparency regarding the companies work with data ethics.
